So recently I bought a HackRF one, so I can analyze radios while searching on the web. I heard some rumors that state SDRs are better used with Linux, but I only have a MacBook with me. I found a project on GitHub that installs all the software radio packages for me. It handles all the Python package installation for me using conda.

Install Radioconda

So I downloaded the Graphical Installer from radioconda’s repo and installed it.
It installs in your home folder, so if you want to remove it in the future, you can find it there.

Importing ERROR!? hOw?

So after installation, I opened my Terminal and entered gnuradio-companion, and an importing error came up.
Weird… that shouldn’t happen right…?
After some more searching, I found that not only do I have this problem, the solution is simple, just update conda-forge and libgfortran using the following command:

conda install -c conda-forge libgfortran

Problem solved!

Usage

To start, the included software is pretty simple, too just open your terminal and type in the command of the software you want to use:

SoftwareCommand
GNU Radiognuradio-companion
gqrxgqrx
inspectruminspectrum
